Making space for wild plants @ Nursery Road Green

Flowering plants provide nectar and pollen for important insects such as bumble bees and moths.
As a trial project the small green outside my house - No 38 in Nursery Rd will be targeted to increase the number of wild flowers within the grass.
Working with Winchester City Council it is intended to promote the establishment of wild flowers which will be seeded into the lawn. The flowers will be from plants growing locally in similar mown environments such as road verges
Seeds from plants such as red clover, clustered harebells, cowslips, and knapweed have already been collected and are ready to be spread into the lawn when it is next cut.

The leaflets have been collected from my neighbours. I have had a brilliant response from my immediate neighbours - everyone is in support of the project.
One of the main concerns is the limits which may have been imposed on the local children playing on the green. The local children can carry on playing on the green in fact it has been suggested the the trampling of the ground will help the seeds germinate....
