Welcome to the wildlife page of the Alresford Greening Campaign. The AGC has set up a group to facilitate wildlife projects within the town. The plants, animals, and their habitats are considered to be the ‘biodiversity’ of our local area.

Report seeing a snake

Snakes are often secretive animals and surprisingly, even when people do see them, they are not often recorded. Consequently even now we don’t know as much about their distribution or how it is changing as we would like.

This is where you come in.

We are looking for your recent observations of snakes. We will use this information to help develop distribution maps based on ‘real life sightings’ and also through computer modelling to work out where they are likely to be.

This new approach will give us a better estimate of the status of snakes in Britain, help us target conservation effort and also gives us a better insight into how populations might be affected over time, for example through climate change.

Simply read the notes below and then click on the button to continue:

To report a snake, easy as ABC:
A- click on the image most resembling the species you saw,
B- a map will appear to allow you to mark the location you saw it. Once you’ve entered the sighting, then
C- a short form will appear for any additional information you wish to give us .. instructions will be given at each stage.
